A New Saint Gregory Retail Partner in the Netherlands

Saint Gregory is pleased to introduce Hoes Tailors as our new retail partner in the Netherlands.

A historic tailoring house with over 80 years of experience, Hoes Tailors represents a perfect alignment with our philosophy: true craftsmanship, construction-led tailoring, and a long-term vision of elegance.

This collaboration brings together two tailoring traditions that share the same belief: real quality is never loud, it is built.

1. How was HOES TAILORS founded and what idea of elegance guides your work today?

Hoes Tailors was founded over 80 years ago in Alkmaar, and what started as a family passion for fine clothing has grown into one of the Netherlands’ most respected tailoring destinations. Three generations later, we still carry the same belief that elegance is never loud — it speaks through fit, fabric, and the care put into every detail. For us, true style is the harmony between classic tailoring traditions and the way a modern man actually lives and moves. That philosophy hasn’t changed, and it never will.

2. What do you consider most important in a garment: style, construction, or brand consistency?

Construction is always the foundation — without it, style is just an illusion. A beautifully cut jacket that collapses after a season tells you everything about the shortcuts taken in its making. That said, we believe the three elements are inseparable: construction, style, and consistency must coexist. We curate brands that understand this balance, because our clients expect garments that are not only beautiful today, but remain relevant and durable over time.

3. What kind of client visits your store today?

Our clients range from young professionals entering the world of tailoring for the first time to long-standing clients who have trusted us for decades. What they share is a desire for authenticity — garments that fit properly, feel exceptional, and improve with time. Increasingly, they are also more informed, already understanding concepts like full canvas construction and tailoring techniques, which reflects a clear evolution in the market.

4. How did your first encounter with Saint Gregory happen?

Years ago, we first came across Saint Gregory on social media, but at the time it didn’t feel like the right moment. That changed in 2025 when a client brought in several Saint Gregory garments for alterations. The moment we handled those jackets, we immediately understood the level of craftsmanship behind them. Shortly after, we reconnected directly with the brand, and the collaboration developed very naturally.

5. What convinced you that Saint Gregory aligns with your philosophy?

The construction speaks for itself. Full canvas, hand-stitched in Naples, with a clear respect for traditional tailoring. What stood out immediately was the shoulder construction — soft, natural, and unmistakably Neapolitan. Saint Gregory does not aim to be everything for everyone, and that focus is exactly what we value in a tailoring partner.

6. Which Saint Gregory garment best represents the brand?

Without hesitation, the jacket. It is where the identity of Saint Gregory becomes most visible. The way the shoulder and chest are constructed reflects a clear vision: garments that move with the body, adapt over time, and feel increasingly personal. It is a deeply Neapolitan approach, executed with consistency and conviction.

7. What details allow you to recognize exceptional tailoring?

The lapel is always the first indicator — how it rolls, how it feels, and whether it has life. Then the shoulder construction, which reveals whether a garment has been truly shaped or simply assembled. Finally, the interior finishing: patience is always visible in the details. With Saint Gregory, these elements consistently tell the right story.

8. What makes a garment stay in a client’s wardrobe for years?

A garment must feel like an extension of the person wearing it. The best pieces are those that fit well from the beginning and gradually adapt over time. While construction and fabric are essential, the emotional connection is what truly makes a garment last. When a client returns after years and still wears the same jacket regularly, that is the highest form of success.

This partnership with Hoes Tailors represents a natural alignment between two tailoring cultures rooted in craftsmanship, integrity, and a shared respect for construction.

Saint Gregory continues to expand internationally through selected partners who share this vision: not fashion for the moment, but garments built to last.
