HOW A TAILORED GARMENT IS CREATED
The sartorial technique is full of little secrets that make the jackets fluid and the trousers
comfortable and that give to the shirts a touch of semi-inconsistency.
Our suits and our shirts are produced according three different production methods:
- Bespoke. It is a geometric cut that is processed by the measurements on the body.
The delivery of the finished garment takes place after two or three fitting trials.
For the realization of this type of product, our tailor works on the posture and on the physical characteristics of the client and models him the dress up to create a garment that fits him perfectly. - Made to measure. It is a cut made from a standard size. The order is placed according to some suits called “measures tools” that we provide the customers with.
These tools are suits realized in standard sizes from which the tailors starts to identify the correct size of the customer (usually we make only one fitting before to deliver the final suit but, in some cases, even the direct delivery without any fitting). - Ready to wear. These are suits already made in standard sizes that can be modi fied and/or customized depending on the fit and taste of the client
The shirt is finished with 8 meticulous operations by hand. All embroidery are made strictly by
hand to ensure greater softness, touch and comfort. The Saint Gregory shirt is made from selected
cottons and linens: a guarantee of quality and perfect wearability. The choice of fabrics has a sacred
the customer chooses helped by his tailor, a trusted friend and a tireless advisor. We evaluate everything together with our customers, we study the personality and the taste and also the occasion in which it will be worn. The ritual of measurement occurs with an almost rhythmic gesture that amuses
every time and always leaves customer astonished for its accuracy. The choice of the cuffs, the neck, the buttons, moreover, remind us a timeless portrait: those actions so accurate would deserve to remain there, fixed in space, as if they were paintings..
The trousers are made with the "half stitches" able to give the garment a perfect fit. We offer
trousers with both classic and contemporary taste, according to the requests. Our tailors will advise
the most suitable model for the wearer and the result will be a pant of impeccable manufacture.
The moment of
realization is very particular: the tailor suggests to take a positions during the several fitting so to detect the best measures. Moments made of meticulous research, of attention but also of good coffee and smiles of approval. When it's time to start to create the garment, the scene is made of
chalks writing on the fabrics and scissors flowing and needles stinging and embroidering threads. And then the buttonholes and the belt and the joists and every small detail that can make more precious the trousers: a unique piece of artist in its execution. .
The jacket represents our paradigm, the real fulcrum around which the Neapolitan tailoring rotates.
A perfect reality even in the smallest details. The gestures are made free by the sleeve called "a
mappina", very soft and curled at the height of the seam with the shoulder. Another characteristic of
our jacket is the Neapolitan rever. Even the pockets are peculiar: they can be "a pignata" if they
remember the shape of a pot, or "a barchetta" if they recall the shape of the goiter, a typical Neapolitan boat. In addition, the classic Neapolitan jacket avoids the basting on the front, remains soft and light and follows the natural physiognomy of the body. Our tailors prefer a lining that does not completely cover the interior because this allows them to boast of the stitching made, a sign of the awareness of having produced something unique
and the audacity of wanting to show it. Here again, repeated and emblematic scenes: our customers who are asked to take a position, to inflate the chest, to pull in the belly and then immediately to relax it, to extend the arms as a cross and so on. The wait flows amid amused laughter. And as it flows, the desire to see the complete garment increases. The jacket. A unique object that will embellish the wardrobe of those who commissioned it..
